Job summary

Lexington United Methodist Church is seeking a full-time Children’s Minister to provide visionary leadership for the church’s children’s ministry. The role requires recruiting and equipping volunteers, coordinating Sunday School, Children’s Church, and midweek activities, and aligning programs with the church’s mission to develop lifelong disciples.

Flexibility in hours is provided to include Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Qualifications

• Spiritual gifts helpful for ministry include servanthood, teaching, exhortation, leadership, administration, and shepherding.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
• Strong listening and communication with all ages, collaboration with other ministry leaders, delegation and follow-up are important.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and oversee an effective children’s ministry to help children grow as disciples.
• Direct Sunday School ministry and Children’s Church, and coordinate nursery activities.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers and paid staff for children’s programs.
• Coordinate Wednesday evening opportunities for all‑aged children and family events.
• Plan and execute events (e.g., Fall Festival, Christmas program, Vacation Bible School).
• Engage with Church Council and other meetings to align ministry with church vision.
