Job Description:

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida invites applications from innovative principal investigators for a full-time, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position. We seek outstanding candidates with research interests in all aspects of ocular and visual system biology and disease, emphasizing scientists with pioneering and field-defining research programs in basic or translational research. The ideal candidate will hold an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree and have a proven track record of successful research and scholarly activity, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and successful extramural funding.

The Ophthalmology Department is dedicated to promoting high-quality basic and translational research. The successful candidate will join a collegial, energetic, and diverse group of scientists. The department has a strong history of NIH and foundation funding and maintains a reputable presence in the vision research community. The University of Florida fosters a robust research environment, ranked 5th among public universities for research accomplishments and NIH funding. It hosts numerous research centers and institutes where faculty collaborate with vision researchers.

The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary and start-up package. Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The College of Medicine offers an active faculty compensation plan, including incentives and bonuses. The employer will assist with relocation costs.

Expected Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of an approved doctoral program. For clinician-scientists, completion of an approved ophthalmology residency, board certification or eligibility, and eligibility to obtain an unrestricted Florida license are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A strong background in vision research, evidenced by a significant publication record and successful funding history. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to teaching in an academic setting.
