Job summary

Rehabilitation of the Blind SP Agency 805 in Weatherford, OK is seeking Rehab Teachers for multiple levels to support blind and visually impaired clients. The role develops individualized plans, trains in orientation and mobility, braille literacy, and independent living skills while coordinating with medical staff and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level education in orientation & mobility or rehab teaching with relevant experience.
• Eligibility for certification in vision rehabilitation or mobility disciplines.
• Proficiency in Unified Braille tests and related competencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and individualized instruction to blind/VI clients and families.
• Assess consumer condition, living situation and job readiness to plan services.
• Consult with medical personnel to determine eligibility for rehab services.
• Develop and monitor an individualized rehabilitation/independent living plan.
• Instruct in orientation, mobility, low vision aids and public transportation access.
• Educate civic groups and professionals about needs of the blind/VI.
