Job summary

SEGULA Technologies is seeking a Vision Rear Lighting Engineer to lead the design, engineering development, timing, and production release of exterior tail lamps and signal lighting systems from concept through full vehicle launch.

You will serve as the technical interface between internal cross-functional teams, the PDO, and exterior lighting suppliers, ensuring regulatory compliance and robust performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD and PLM environments (CATIA, UG NX, Enovia, Teamcenter).
• Experience in automotive exterior lighting development and plastics tooling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and release of exterior tail lamps from concept to product launch.
• Coordinate with PDO, cross-functional teams, and lighting suppliers on development timelines.
• Define packaging, interfaces, and regulatory homologation for lighting systems.
• Manage design reviews with suppliers and track CAD milestones.
• Support validation, DVP&R, cost optimization, and weight reduction initiatives.

Job description

The Vision Rear Lighting Engineer is responsible for leading the design, engineering development, timing, and production release of exterior tail lamps and signal lighting systems from initial concept through full vehicle launch. This role serves as the key technical interface between internal cross-functional teams, the Product Design Office (PDO), and exterior lighting suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• First & B-Surface Development: Collaborate with the Product Design Office (PDO) to develop the styling first surface for rear lamp/tail lamp assemblies and direct suppliers on B-surface development (housings, mounting points, and internal optics).
• Packaging & System Integration: Define and resolve packaging, clearance, and mounting interfaces with adjacent body components, including Body-in-White (BIW), fenders, liftgates, fascias, and rear bumpers.
• Performance & Compliance: Ensure lamp output, optical performance, and signal functions satisfy all customer requirements and legal homologation/regulatory standards.
• Supplier & Program Management: Conduct technical design reviews with lighting suppliers, establish project development timelines, and manage supplier deliverables through program CAD milestones.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Architecture, Vehicle Concepts, Program Science teams, and manufacturing/assembly plants to resolve milestone issues and ensure successful launch integration.
• Validation & Continuous Improvement: Support DVP&R execution, quality improvements, weight reduction, and cost optimization initiatives across the rear lighting product lifecycle.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

Software Skills

Proficiency in CAD and PLM environments (e.g., CATIA / UG NX / Enovia / Teamcenter).

Core Experience

Proven background in automotive exterior lighting development, plastics product development, and tooling knowledge for lighting components.

Key Competencies

Strong understanding of regulatory homologation compliance, lighting optics/electronics, and technical problem-solving capabilities.
