Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and be on call.
• Must meet all minimum requirements for a law enforcement officer as set forth by the Mississippi Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver history (CDL a plus).
• Ability to work in all-weather conditions.
• Good mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Communicate effectively with residents, elected officials, other city employees, and contractors – both in verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of general office equipment and operation of computers.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the laws and ordinances of the City of Olive Branch.
• Perform routine patrol of the assigned area of operation on foot, bicycle, personal transport (Segway), or by other patrol vehicle.
• Conduct background checks of potential civilian employees of city departments.
• Provide bank escorts for employees of City Hall and the Municipal Court.
• Conduct a thorough investigation of all offenses within the area of assignment.
• Maintain visible police presence to the public to help prevent and/or suppress criminal activity.
• Assist with traffic management and enforce traffic laws.
• Keep daily log of shift activities and perform shift reports.
• Check and file official reports of accidents, incidents, and other reports.
• Support investigating units; assist with crime prevention activities and programs.
• Perform inspection and light maintenance on equipment.
• Prepare and deliver affidavits, subpoenas, warrants and city aldermen packets as requested.
• Perform other duties as directed.
• Regular in Person Attendance.
