Pearson is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to provide direct OT services to K-12 students enrolled in Connections Academy virtual public schools. The OT will work from home using webcams and the EMS platform to manage caseloads and documentation.

Responsibilities include conducting screenings, writing reports and IEPs, and collaborating with parents and school staff to meet student goals. A sign-on bonus of $2,000 is offered for first-year employment, with two $1,000 installments.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited institution.
  • NBCOT Certification.
  • Valid Board and/or Department of Education License for Occupational Therapy for your state of residence and the state you will be assigned to work in.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain multiple state certifications and clearances as assigned.
  • 2+ years' experience in K-12 school setting.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Flexibility in work hours (8 am to 8 pm) and caseload-driven changes.

Position Summary:

Working from his/her home part time, the Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy to K-12 students who are enrolled in Connections Academy virtual public schools. The OT will connect with students using webcams and web conferencing software, while using the company's online Education Management System as well as other tools to manage his/her caseload.

Part-Time Sign-On Bonus:
Newly hired employees for the 2026-2027 school year are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $2,000 , payable in two equal installments of $1,000 each, contingent upon active employment on June 30 and December 31 respectively during the first year of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality, direct occupational therapy services to assigned students in accordance with the student’s mandated IEP and service goals:
  • Conduct screenings and formal and informal evaluations of all students’ occupational therapy needs using documented best practices;
  • Be an expert on state specific policies and procedures for implementing Occupational Therapy services;
  • Write evaluation reports, progress notes, and individualized education plans
  • Log all student interactions within the EMS platform including detailed therapy notes that follow Medicaid guidelines
  • Serve as an IEP team member by attending meetings and submitting paperwork as needed to maintain compliance with federal, state and school guidelines,
  • Communicate regularly with parents/learning coaches of students with occupational therapy needs as well as school special education staff to ensure that their IEP goals are being met, and that their needs are addressed in a timely and appropriate fashion;
  • Consult with teachers and coordinate the implementation of specially designed instruction as defined in the IEP regarding students with occupational therapy needs and potential learning issues;
  • Assist, as needed, with the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation and procedures for the IEP process for select students;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the company’s Education Management System and special education software, including updating secondary IEP systems as directed;
  • Maintain a positive working relationship between the OT team, and the schools and programs we serve;
  • Review and analyze a variety of reports to maintain compliance;
  • Obtain and maintain all required licenses and clearances as assigned;
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
