Job description

Job Title: Sleep Technologist

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sleep Technologist.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform duties as assigned.
2. Gather and analyze patient information, review history, physical data, medications, procedure requests, and study protocols. Complete documentation, explain procedures, and orient patients to the sleep center.
3. Prepare and calibrate testing equipment, apply electrodes and sensors, perform physiologic calibrations, and ensure proper functioning of equipment. Conduct routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
4. Follow procedural protocols for polysomnographic procedures, including MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration. Establish baseline values and perform data acquisition, monitoring signal quality and making adjustments as needed.
5. Document observations, sleep stages, clinical events, and procedural changes. Implement interventions for patient safety and therapy, such as CPAP, oxygen administration, etc.
6. Verify data integrity at the end of studies, repeat calibrations if necessary, and instruct patients on questionnaires. Provide age-specific care for neonatal to geriatric patients.
7. Assist with sleep/wake and clinical event scoring following accepted guidelines. Generate accurate reports from collected data.
8. Ensure safety and infection control compliance, perform equipment maintenance, maintain CPR/BCLS certification, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Maintain sleep study equipment and inventory.
• Explain procedures and orient patients for in-center or home sleep apnea testing.
• Perform patient education and instructions for home testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a NYS OP License and current registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist, or be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Therapy Technician capable of performing polysomnography. At least 2 years' experience in the field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited educational program in sleep technology or equivalent experience. Certification by a recognized board such as RST, RPSGT, or SDS.

Effective communication skills across all organizational levels are essential.

Salary Range:

The hourly rate is $40.47 - $48.00, depending on experience and qualifications. This does not include bonuses or additional benefits.
