Job summary

ACCEL Schools seeks a dedicated online teacher for the Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida. The role involves delivering live lessons, managing coursework in an LMS, and supporting students with timely feedback. You will coordinate with the Principal to report progress and adapt instruction based on data.

The position requires a Florida teaching license, knowledge of state standards, and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching. Occasional in-person state testing travel is required.

Qualifications

  • State teaching license in appropriate content area.
  • Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
  • Preferred two years’ teaching experience.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at a time.
  • Ability to supervise students in all school settings.
  • Ability to pass federal and state background checks.
  • Experience in multicultural settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor in core content areas and grade levels.
  • Deliver highly effective live lessons via web conference based on student need.
  • Complete course setup for each course within the Learning Management System.
  • Monitor student progress in asynchronous courses and provide daily feedback/grades.
  • Track and maintain contact with each student and communicate with families.
  • Collaborate with Principal to create and deliver Progress Reports of Students.
  • Review student data to inform instructional program adjustments.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Utilize research-based best practices in synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
  • Create a joyful, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.

Job description

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is a K–12 tuition-free online public school serving students statewide. At VPA Florida, we provide a safe and nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to be understood and inspired through a customized learning path that includes live interactive sessions and personalized teacher support.

We are seeking teachers who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. ACCEL Schools uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods.

Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will berequiredseveral times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips and attend these events in person
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, humbly, and respectfully with all colleagues
  • Travel to support required face-to-face state testing annually
  • Perform other duties as assigned
About You
  • CurrentStateteaching license inappropriate contentarea
  • Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
