Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations at our Berlin location. You will prepare patients for exams, document vitals and history, and assist the provider with examinations. The role includes phlebotomy, vaccines, basic diagnostic testing, and front desk duties as needed.

The position requires 0-2 years in a medical office, a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with active certification. BLS is required.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.
• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant; DE certification within 1 year if applicable.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimens; administer vaccines and document appropriately.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as EKG and pulmonary function under physician supervision.
• Screens and directs patient calls per protocol; communicate prescriptions/test results to patients as directed.
• Maintain regulatory testing and document equipment accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with front desk duties including patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Summary:

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint.

Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education:

HS diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.

BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate:

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
