We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join the Division of Medical-Clinical Services, Public Health Laboratory located in Decatur, GA.
The Division of Microbiology at the Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) is responsible for detecting, identifying, and reporting communicable diseases within Georgia. The Division maintains expertise in microbiology specialties including Mycobacteriology, Enteric Bacteriology, Environmental Microbiology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology, STDs, Antimicrobial Resistance surveillance, and Advanced Molecular Detection.
GPHL seeks a certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform testing within the Virology Unit for STDs, Flu Surveillance, Rabies Detection, and Molecular testing for Respiratory Viruses supporting public health investigations and surveillance.
Associate degree in a related science, certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/ASCP), and three years of relevant experience, or equivalent qualifications.
Bachelor's degree in a related science and two years of clinical laboratory experience, with certification as a Medical Technologist.
Completion of specific academic/training requirements as listed in the Georgia rules, including transcripts submission.
Includes wellness activities, teleworking conditions, and employment policies. Candidates may undergo drug screening and background checks. Relocation assistance is not provided. Must be able to respond to emergencies as required.
