Job summary

Big Top Manufacturing in Perry, FL is seeking a Vinyl Fabrication Operator to join our production team. You will ensure parts are produced on time, verify vinyl type and color against sketches, and minimize waste while maintaining safety.

The role reports to the Vinyl Fabrication Supervisor; overtime may be required and punctuality is essential. After 60 days, you may access employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance and other benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year work history or military service preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided for sketches, forklift certification, and safety processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all parts are produced on time and meet quality standards.
  • Verify vinyl type and color against sketches before running.
  • Measure and mark vinyl to ensure accuracy; label covers and end panels.
  • Minimize material waste and maintain equipment; perform basic preventive maintenance.
  • Follow safety guidelines and report incidents to supervisor.
  • Assist in training new personnel on safety, production and quality standards.

The Vinyl Fabrication Operator reports directly to the Vinyl Fabrication Supervisor. Vinyl Fabrication Operators are responsible for achieving immediate and short-term production objectives laid down by the Vinyl Fabrication Supervisor. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts. Reasonable overtime hours may be required to meet production needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
  • Verify vinyl type and color against sketches before running.
  • Measure and mark vinyl to ensure accuracy.
  • Correctly label covers and end panels.
  • Minimize material waste.
  • Responsible for care and preventive maintenance of the equipment in use.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
  • Follow instructions given by supervisor.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Abilities
  • Team Player.
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Read and understand complex sketches (on-the-job training provided).
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within three months (on-the-job training provided).
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and how to properly use them.
  • Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
  • Proficient in math, both decimal and inch calculations.
  • Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year work history or military service with honorable discharge preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers and management.
  • Heavy lifting (50lbs) is required on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
  • Ability to remain at workstation for long periods of time while using tools and machinery and performing repetitive actions.
  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify and operate machinery and equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110F.
  • Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required, as needed to support production goals.
