Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Video Engineer to advance video codecs, vision hardware, and related software in mobile, automotive, XR, IoT & Compute spaces. You’ll design and verify HW/SW for video systems, drive architecture decisions, and ensure performance KPIs across multiple markets.

The role requires a degree in EE/CS with 2+ years of relevant experience (or higher degrees with appropriate experience). Collaboration with design, test, and leadership is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • OR Master’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Applies Video and Computer Vision Engineering knowledge and experience to research and develop video codec and computer vision HW.
  • Designs, develops, implements, and verifies video systems and HW and FW tasks including Video Encoder, Video Decoder, Computer Vision, Video Quality and Features.
  • Performs architecture, standard study, algorithm, and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development.
  • Ensures KPIs, systems performance, and area and power metrics are met.
  • Drives the triage of problems to determine root causes and recommends ways to fix and/or improve.
  • Collaborates with teams (e.g., design and test) and customers to analyze customer product requirements for new architecture, video, and CV modules or the modification of an existing design for all addressable markets including mobile, automotive, IoT, and others.
  • Contributes to video subsystems and develops basic features and components in line with product proposals or roadmaps.
  • Writes detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions to guide users and/or customers to use or implement output.
