Job summary

Oowlish in the United States is seeking an experienced Video Streaming & Real-Time Media Architect to design and implement a scalable streaming platform. This hands-on role works with senior engineers to shape the architecture and deliver globally distributed media workloads.

You will leverage GStreamer/FFmpeg, WebRTC, and AWS to build high‑availability systems across multiple regions, collaborating with teams worldwide and mentoring others to raise technical standards.

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing scalable and distributed systems.
• Professional experience building video streaming, media processing, or real-time communication systems.
• Strong understanding of real-time networking and media delivery.
• Strong AWS architecture and infrastructure experience.
• Experience designing or supporting globally distributed and multi-region systems.
• Ability to work hands-on alongside engineering teams.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable architectures for video processing, streaming, and real-time media delivery.
• Define technical solutions involving video processing technologies such as GStreamer or FFmpeg.
• Design real-time networking architectures using WebRTC, RTP, STUN, TURN, SFU, and UDP.
• Architect globally distributed AWS infrastructure supporting scalable media workloads.
• Design highly available and scalable cloud deployments across multiple AWS regions.
• Define infrastructure strategies involving EKS, load balancing, autoscaling, caching, CDN, and serverless services.
• Make architectural decisions around performance, scalability, reliability, and global traffic distribution.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers and other Architects on implementation and technical decisions.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance during development and implementation.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Video Streaming & Real-Time Media Architect to help design and implement a highly scalable video streaming platform.

This is a hands‑on architecture role requiring strong experience across video processing and streaming, real‑time networking, and globally distributed AWS infrastructure.

You will help define technical architecture while working closely with other senior engineers to build and scale the platform. The team will collectively cover the required technical areas, so deep expertise in specific areas can complement the experience of other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design scalable architectures for video processing, streaming, and real‑time media delivery.

• Define technical solutions involving video processing technologies such as GStreamer or FFmpeg.

• Design real‑time networking architectures using technologies and protocols such as WebRTC, RTP, STUN, TURN, SFU, and UDP.

• Architect globally distributed AWS infrastructure supporting scalable media workloads.

• Design highly available and scalable cloud deployments across multiple AWS regions.

• Define infrastructure strategies involving EKS, load balancing, autoscaling, caching, CDN, and serverless services.

• Make architectural decisions around performance, scalability, reliability, and global traffic distribution.

• Professional experience building video streaming, media processing, or real‑time communication systems.

• Strong AWS architecture and infrastructure experience.

• Experience designing or supporting globally distributed and multi‑region systems.

• Ability to work hands‑on alongside engineering teams rather than operating exclusively at a high‑level architecture layer.

• Strong customer‑facing communication skills.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Must Have:

• Strong experience with video processing and streaming technologies, including: GStreamer or FFmpeg, H.264/H.265, HLS/DASH, fMP4/TS.

• Strong experience with real‑time networking and media communication, including: RTP, WebRTC, STUN, TURN, SFU, UDP.

• Strong experience with AWS infrastructure and globally distributed deployments, including technologies such as S3, CloudFront, Lambda, EKS, Autoscaling, Network Load Balancer (NLB), Global Accelerator, Valkey/Redis, and Multi‑region deployments.

• Experience building and supporting scalable production systems.

• Experience working with video streaming or real‑time media systems in production environments.

• Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with iOS video and real‑time media development, including: Swift, WebRTC, AVFoundation, and VideoToolbox.

• Experience with Android video and real‑time media development, including: Kotlin, WebRTC, and MediaCodec.

• Experience with C/C++ development.
