Job summary

The Newark Board of Education is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Audio and Visual Production Technology to educate students in broadcast techniques, camera operation, sound design, editing, and live streaming.

Applicants should hold a New Jersey Department of Education standard certificate (or CE/CEAS) with a preferred bachelor's degree and demonstrated experience with live event production and social media streaming.

Qualifications

• Must hold NJDOE standard certificate, CE, or CEAS as required by state rules.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred unless NJDOE specifies otherwise.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging curriculum and lesson plans for Audio and Visual Broadcast Technology.
• Teach students audio and video production techniques, including camera operation, sound design, editing, and live broadcasting.
• Operate and maintain broadcast equipment, including cameras, microphones, and editing software.
• Develop relationships with local media professionals to provide industry insights and opportunities for students.
• Stay current with industry trends and technologies, incorporating innovative techniques and software into the curriculum.
• Mentor and supervise students in school productions and events.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate broadcast content into other subjects.
