Job summary

WGME seeks a part-time News Editor in Portland, ME, to produce compelling video for daily news and special projects. You will edit footage, ingest feeds from bureaus, and work with anchors, reporters, and producers to craft polished segments.

The ideal candidate has a college degree or at least 1 year of related experience, plus familiarity with Final Cut Pro and Avid NewsCutter XP. Early morning availability is required; compensation starts at the published hourly range with standard benefits.

WGME has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, detail oriented and creative Part-Time News Editor!

Job responsibilities include:

• Editing video for daily news coverage, special projects, and sweep period pieces
• Taking in news feeds from news bureaus and various news organizations
• Collaborating with anchors, reporters, and producers on video elements of newscasts
• Meeting daily deadlines in a high-energy working environment

Requirements and Qualifications:

• College degree or minimum one (1) year relative experience in the field
• Knowledge of Final Cut Pro and Avid NewsCutter XP editing technology is a definite plus
• Ability to work with a multitude of people and personalities while maintaining a professional work environment
• Available to work early morning hours under tight deadlines.

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $17.50 to $18.54 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Eligible employees may participate in a retirement plan and employee stock purchase plan and will receive paid sick leave in accordance with applicable law.
