Job summary

UW-Madison seeks a Local Work Study Student to edit video and audio assets for Main Street Yoga Center projects. You will coordinate with a supervisor, manage timelines, and ensure quality across video outputs.

You must practice yoga weekly at the studio; those with less experience will be expected to practice on-site 3 times a week. Flexible scheduling and remote work options are available within program guidelines.

Department Overview

You will be working with the yoga studio Main Street Yoga Center on the near East Side. We run yoga classes & series, from Yoga Teacher Training to beginner classes. Your work will be in this range.

Schedule

Flexible. You may work on your own schedule so long as work is occurring. You should average 5 – 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

You should have a strong workflow with video editing. Specific Tool does not matter. You should have Yoga Experience and be practicing every week at our studio. If your yoga experience is minimal, you will be expected to practice at our studio at least 3X per week (not paid to do yoga). You are expected to want to learn more about yoga regardless of your experience level. This is necessary so that you can understand what you are being asked to create.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

In addition to strong video editing skills, a candidate must also familiar with yoga. Some of the video tracks are not in synch with the teacher cues. Many of the cues are more subtle alignment or breath cues. A person familiar with yoga will be able to accurately coordinate these. Someone not familiar with yoga will not.
Video Editing skills wise, you should be able to easily splice video tracks together, do color correction and white balancing on the tracks as well as know how to clean up audio from heavy breathing and pops that comes from a headset microphone. You should be capable of putting up animations, graphics, and text on screen for instruction as well as (occasionally) use special effects / AI to change the body position of the model for when a pose has a variation to which the model cannot bend (ie: make the legs straight when they are bent).

Position Summary/Job Duties

Video & Audio inputs edited into Video Assets. Ability to report in with supervisor as well as screencap and ask questions as they arise in process. You will also receive free unlimited yoga at our studio during your tenure.

Physical Demands

You will be required to supply your own computer, hard drive space, and video editing software. You must be able to access the internet and to be available for an hour per week to meet with supervisor at yoga studio or on Zoom. In person meetings will be necessary for large file hand offs. You will need the ability to get the studio and back on short (a day or two’s) notice.
