ByteDance seeks highly skilled software/firmware engineers to design and optimize video analysis and quality assessment algorithms for hardware accelerators. The team focuses on scalable, high-performance video platforms used by billions of users and offers growth through bold problem solving and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Applicants should have a PhD in a related field, strong C/C++ and Python programming, and knowledge of video quality metrics such as VMAF, PSNR and SSIM.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics or a related discipline.
• Excellent programming, debugging, and optimization skills in languages such as C/C++, Python.
• Knowledge of image/video analysis algorithms and quality metrics (VMAF, PSNR, SSIM).

Responsibilities

• Design video analysis and quality assessment algorithms and participate in database creation and optimization.
• Contribute to end-to-end video quality optimization strategies combining analysis, processing and encoding.
• Apply algorithms to VOD/Live streaming monitoring and data analysis for objective evaluation.
• Collaborate with Infra and multimedia teams to integrate algorithms into production workflows and validate with A/B tests.
