Foundation Engineering M&A Integration

The Foundation Engineering M&A Integration sits at the intersection of corporate strategy, technology execution, risk management, and business transformation. As a Vice President in Foundation Engineering M&A Integration, you will help ensure acquisitions are integrated securely, efficiently, and thoughtfully while preserving innovation where it creates strategic value for Goldman Sachs.

Responsibilities And Qualifications:

Goldman Sachs is seeking an accomplished Vice President - Technology M&A Integration Specialist to lead technology integration for acquired businesses from transaction signing through close, Day 1 readiness, stabilization, and longer-term platform convergence.

In this role, you will act as a strategic integrator across acquired companies, Goldman Sachs business lines, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, Infrastructure, Corporate Workplace Solutions, and other firmwide control functions. You will lead post-signing technology due diligence, develop integration roadmaps, and drive execution across people, platforms, data, controls, infrastructure, and end-user technology.

The role requires disciplined execution, sound risk judgment, strong technical breadth, and executive presence. It also requires a best-of-breed mindset: evaluating acquired technology capabilities and advocating for retention, integration, or broader adoption where platforms, tools, architectures, or operating practices create demonstrable value for Goldman Sachs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technology Due Diligence

    • Assess acquired-company technology estates, including infrastructure, cloud environments, applications, licensing, data stores, identity models, security controls, engineering practices, vendor contracts, and operating models.

    • Identify technology risks, control gaps, technical debt, integration dependencies, third-party exposures, and operational constraints.

    • Translate diligence findings into actionable priorities, mitigation plans, investment needs, and executive decisions.

    • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Procurement, and business leadership to address contractual, regulatory, privacy, data-residency, and operational requirements.

  • Integration Execution

    • Lead end-to-end technology integration workstreams across diligence, transition planning, Day 1 readiness, stabilization, and platform convergence.

    • Develop and manage integrated delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decision logs, governance forums, and executive reporting for multiple concurrent acquisitions.

    • Coordinate integration across identity and access, data migration and retention, collaboration tools, SaaS applications, end-user computing, workplace technology, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, privacy, resilience, and control remediation.

    • Define transition-state architectures and sequencing plans that balance business continuity, speed, cost, security, regulatory obligations, and user experience.

  • Stakeholder Management and Leadership

    • Build trusted relationships with acquired-company executives, technology leaders, product owners, business sponsors, and Goldman Sachs functional partners.

    • Lead cross-functional working groups across a complex global matrix and align stakeholders with different priorities, delivery models, and risk tolerances.

    • Influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, driving timely decisions, clear ownership, and accountable execution.

    • Communicate complex technical and operational issues clearly for executive, business, engineering, risk, and operational audiences.

    • Escalate material risks and critical-path dependencies with clear options and recommended actions.

  • Strategic Process Optimization and Innovation

    • Analyze recurring integration patterns to identify causes of delay, cost, risk, or inconsistent user experience.

    • Improve the scalability, speed, predictability, and control effectiveness of the M&A technology integration lifecycle.

    • Enhance integration playbooks, diligence frameworks, workstream templates, governance standards, performance metrics, and knowledge-management practices.

    • Introduce data-driven measures of progress, including migration readiness, control remediation, legacy-system retirement, user adoption, and realized technology synergies.

    • Evaluate acquired technology stacks, engineering practices, operating models, and vendor ecosystems to identify differentiated capabilities that may benefit Goldman Sachs.

    • Build evidence-based business cases for retaining, integrating, scaling, or selectively adopting high-value platforms, tools, architectures, and practices.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in technology program management, enterprise systems integration, technology consulting, corporate development technology, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience leading technology workstreams for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, or major business transformations.

  • Experience delivering large-scale, multi-workstream programs involving senior stakeholders, competing priorities, and material operational risk.

  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise technology domains, including cloud and on-premises infrastructure, enterprise applications and SaaS governance, data migration, identity and access management, collaboration platforms, end-user computing, cybersecurity, resilience, and vendor management.

  • Ability to assess technology architectures, integration dependencies, technical debt, control maturity, and operational support models.

  • Familiarity with technology due diligence, migration planning, systems rationalization, post-merger integration governance, and transition-state architecture.

  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to balance speed, cost, control, user experience, and long‑term strategic value.

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor communications for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong stakeholder‑management skills and the ability to build credibility, influence decisions, and drive execution across teams without direct reporting lines.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, transaction‑driven environment, manage multiple priorities, and work across global time zones as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification is advantageous.

  • Experience in a global investment bank, financial institution, management consultancy, or large‑scale enterprise transformation environment.

  • Certifications in program management, cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, IT service management, or agile delivery.

  • Experience with integration management offices, transaction‑management offices, technology operating‑model design, or enterprise architecture governance.
