Who We Are

At Newrez, we bring big thinkers and caring doers together to make home happen. We’re a team built on heart and hustle, united by a commitment to show up for our customers, our communities, and each other. We believe that when our people thrive, homeowners thrive - and that’s why we invest in your growth, wellbeing, and ability to make an impact.

Every day, we work to exceed the expectations of our residential mortgage borrowers and business partners through superior service, simple processes, and clear communication. We do this by empowering our employees, encouraging innovative solutions and recognizing great performance.

Position Summary

The VP of Strategic Finance leads the build-out of an AI-forward, bottoms‑up forecasting process for a top mortgage lender and servicer. This leader will design, implement, and drive team adoption of AI-enabled forecasting, reporting, and analysis, leveraging Claude, Snowflake Cortex, and Snowflake as the primary data platform, so the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team can shift its time from manual production to value‑added financial analysis and strategy.

The VP also leads in-depth cost‑benefit analysis on large technology projects, tracking cost against business benefit. A key component of this role is balance sheet forecasting, supported by a strong accounting/treasury background to help ensure compliance with key liquidity ratios and regulatory calculations. This is a hands‑on leadership role: this person will be in the trenches with the team, not just directing from above. The position carries a high degree of visibility and coordination with senior management, including the CFO, and with partners across the company.

Successful candidates are highly motivated individuals who excel in a fast‑paced environment, have a strong desire to drive change and see results, possess a strong work ethic and leadership skills, work well independently as well as across multi‑functional teams, and always strive for excellence.

Essential Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities
AI-Forward Forecasting and Strategy (Primary Focus)
  • Build, implement, and own an AI-forward, bottoms‑up forecast process across Originations, Servicing, and Corporate, leveraging AI tools including Claude and Snowflake Cortex, with Snowflake as the primary data platform.
  • Drive FP&A team adoption of the AI-forward process, including training, change management, standards, and adoption tracking, so the team can focus on value‑added financial analysis and strategy.
  • Build AI‑enabled forecasts, processes, and management reports that are accurate, auditable, and repeatable. Establish validation, controls, and governance for AI‑generated outputs.
  • Partner with Operations, Technology, Data, Accounting, Treasury, and Capital Markets to design the Snowflake data pipelines and models that feed the forecast.
  • Serve as the key driver of the department's AI strategy for forecasting, reporting, and analysis: identify opportunities, prioritize, partner cross‑functionally, and operationalize AI‑driven tools across FP&A.
Technology Investment Cost‑Benefit Analysis
  • Lead in-depth cost‑benefit analyses on large technology projects, including AI and new systems initiatives, to inform capital allocation decisions.
  • Forecast and track project cost against realized benefit, whether cost savings or increased revenue, and report results to senior management.
Balance Sheet, Cash, and Liquidity Forecasting
  • Forecast the consolidated balance sheet, cash flow, and liquidity across multiple legal entities, in partnership with Accounting and Treasury.
  • Support compliance with key liquidity ratios and regulatory calculations by monitoring projected headroom and escalating potential shortfalls early.
  • Apply technical accounting and treasury knowledge to ensure forecasts reflect accurate accounting treatment across the three statements.
Corporate FP&A, Consolidation, and Reporting
  • Serve as liaison with the parent company on forecasts, financial reporting and other FP&A items. Develop strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders, including Accounting, Treasury, Capital Markets, and Technology.
  • Oversee a team responsible for consolidated financial reporting, Corporate FP&A, balance sheet management, and capital planning.
  • Coordinate with Originations, Corporate and Servicing FP&A teams to develop consolidated financial forecasts and management reporting.
  • Develop an in‑depth understanding of the company's financial performance, capital position and strategic outlook.
  • Build and own the company's high‑level macro forecasting model, a supplement to the bottoms‑up and rolling forecasting process that enables rapid ad‑hoc analysis when macroeconomic and mortgage market drivers shift, and produces a rolling 3‑year forecast outlook shared with senior management and the parent company.
  • Manage quarterly reporting of financial metrics and KPIs for segment reporting and earnings materials.
  • Lead quarterly benchmarking exercises against public competitors.
  • Perform frequent ad‑hoc analyses for senior management to assist in strategic decision making for the company.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives to improve current financial processes.
  • Excel in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment while demonstrating ownership and accountability for assigned areas. This is a roll‑up‑your‑sleeves role, not a purely oversight function.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and coaching to develop a world class team.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field.

  • Hands‑on experience with data tools, primarily Snowflake, and AI tools such as Claude and Snowflake Cortex a plus.
  • AI coursework or certificate highly desired.
  • Experience leading in‑depth cost‑benefit analysis for large technology projects, including forecasting and tracking cost against business benefit (cost savings or increased revenue).
  • Strong accounting and treasury background, including experience forecasting the balance sheet, cash, and liquidity and supporting compliance with key liquidity ratios and regulatory calculations.
  • Experience working in mortgage, banking or financial services highly desired.

  • Advanced user of Excel to build and maintain complex models, proficient user of Word and PowerPoint.
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
  • Working on‑site at assigned office location.
  • Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
  • Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand.
  • Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations.
  • Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
