Job description

MongoDB is seeking a Vice President, Solutions Architecture – Americas to lead a large, distributed technical go-to-market organization spanning NAMER, LATAM, and specialist teams. Reporting to the SVP, Global Solutions Architecture, this executive will own the Americas technical GTM strategy and partner closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, Professional Services, and Customer Success. The role will help the business deliver against an approximately $500M new-business context, with NAMER representing approximately 65% of total business.

This leader is being hired to accelerate a transformation: move Solutions Architecture beyond traditional pre-sales execution toward a higher-energy, more accountable organization that clearly defines its team goals, runs an effective governance model, and connects technical work to customer value, consumption, and business outcomes.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Austin, NYC, or San Francisco for our hybrid working model.

What You’ll Do

  • Set the America's vision and strategy; Define and communicate a clear regional vision for Solutions Architecture, translating the global mandate into an Americas operating strategy with the right local choices, priorities, and measures

  • Lead the transformation of the function; Raise energy, accountability, and commercial impact across the organization while preserving the strengths that already work; Be explicit about what the team should preserve, change, and stop

  • Build an operating system for scale; Establish clear goals, governance, inspection mechanisms, capacity planning, and operating rhythms across NAMER, LATAM, and specialist teams

  • Drive consumption-oriented technical GTM; Evolve the organization from primarily traditional pre-sales work toward technical strategies that accelerate adoption, usage growth, expansion, and durable customer value

  • Partner with Americas Sales leadership; Improve technical win strategy, deal quality, velocity, and executive engagement on complex enterprise opportunities while maintaining sound technical and commercial judgment

  • Serve as an executive technical ambassador; Build credibility with CIOs, CTOs, senior technology leaders, and strategic partners in conversations focused on modernization, AI, cloud, data platforms, and business transformation

  • Develop leaders and raise performance; Attract, develop, and retain strong Director- and Manager-level leaders; create clear expectations; coach through the work; and address underperformance directly and fairly

  • Create consistency without removing judgment; Institutionalize value-based discovery, technical qualification, reference architectures, strategic POCs, and effective pre- to post-sales handoffs while allowing appropriate regional flexibility

  • Turn field signal into enterprise action; Partner with Product and global Solutions Architecture leadership to bring useful customer and market insight into roadmap, enablement, and GTM decisions

  • Own resource and investment decisions; Prioritize people, specialist capacity, and budget toward the highest-impact opportunities and long-term health of the Americas

What You’ll Bring

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, enterprise software, cloud, data platforms, or related businesses

  • 5+ years leading large, multi-region or global technical pre-sales organizations, including leaders of leaders

  • Experience managing a comparable organization of 100+ individual contributors and a meaningful leadership layer

  • A track record of leading transformation in a technical GTM function, including changes to strategy, metrics, operating discipline, and accountability

  • Deep experience with consumption-based business models and the ability to connect technical strategy to adoption, usage, expansion, and revenue outcomes

  • Strong platform or middleware experience, ideally in businesses where customers consume infrastructure, data, integration, automation, or developer capabilities; Relevant environments may include AWS, Google Cloud, Confluent, Databricks, UiPath, or comparable platform businesses

  • Strong understanding of value-based discovery, technical qualification, and scalable solution design methodologies

  • Demonstrated ability to win complex modernization, AI, cloud, data, and platform workloads with both technical depth and commercial judgment

  • Proven experience developing leaders, setting high standards, managing performance, and building an inclusive, high-performing culture

  • Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to craft a vision and transmit it with clarity, energy, and intention

  • Comfort operating within a global mandate while making sound regional decisions and allowing leaders to find their own path to execution

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across the Americas
