Job description

We are hiring a Vice President, Provider Recruitment and Contracting
Your Experience Matters

At Lifepoint Health, we are committed to empowering and supporting a diverse and determined workforce who can drive quality, scalability, and significant impact across our hospitals and communities.

More About Our Team And The Position

The Vice President, Provider Recruitment and Contracting is accountable for developing and executing Lifepoint Health's enterprise strategy for physician and advanced practice professional (APP) recruitment, contracting, onboarding coordination, and workforce pipeline development. This role ensures the organization attracts, engages, contracts, and retains the clinical talent required to support enterprise growth, patient access, quality, and long-term sustainability objectives.

This executive owns the end-to-end provider recruitment and contracting lifecycle across acute, ambulatory, and service line settings for providers employed by or contracted with a Lifepoint medical group. The role establishes scalable operating models, standardized processes, governance, and performance expectations that reduce time-to-fill, accelerate contracting timelines, strengthen onboarding effectiveness, and support provider retention.

Working in close partnership with division leadership, Medical Group Services, operations, finance, legal, physician leaders, graduate medical education, and service line leadership, the Vice President aligns provider workforce planning with market demand, growth priorities, and enterprise clinical access goals. Success is measured by the organization's ability to consistently recruit and retain high-performing providers, execute compliant and competitive contracts efficiently, improve the provider's experience, and meet workforce demands across all markets.

The position is considered a hybrid role with an expectation of travel around 25%.

How You'll Contribute

A Vice President, Provider Recruiting and Contracting who excels in this role will focus on the following:

Enterprise Provider Workforce Strategy
  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise recruitment and contracting strategies for employed physicians, advanced practice professionals, and providers with professional services agreements within the medical group line of business.
  • Partner with operational, clinical, financial, and service line leaders to align provider workforce planning with enterprise growth, patient access, succession, and care delivery priorities.
  • Develop scalable recruiting and contracting models, workforce planning methodologies, and market-level recruitment objectives that proactively address provider shortages, succession risks, access gaps, and growth opportunities.
Provider Recruitment Excellence
  • Provide executive leadership for physician and APP recruitment teams responsible for sourcing, candidate engagement, site visits, selection, offer development, and hiring across priority specialties, geographies, and service lines.
  • Implement innovative sourcing, branding, marketing, and outreach strategies that improve candidate generation, diversity of candidate pipelines, and recruitment effectiveness in accordance with Lifepoint Health Business Solutions standards.
  • Partner with Graduate Medical Education programs, professional associations, academic institutions, and external organizations to establish sustainable provider pipelines, consistent candidate experience standards, and leadership capability within the recruitment function
Provider Contracting And Compensation Administration
  • Lead enterprise provider contracting processes to ensure efficient, compliant, and timely execution, renewal, and amendment of employment agreements, including offers, term sheets, contract reviews, approvals, and execution.
  • Establish contracting governance frameworks, standardized workflows, approval and escalation pathways, documentation standards, and processes for identifying and escalating high-risk or non-standard contract terms.
  • Partner with finance, legal, physician compensation, and operational leaders to support contract development and negotiations while balancing recruitment competitiveness with financial stewardship, internal equity, enterprise compensation standards, and market-specific needs.
  • Ensure provider contracting practices comply with organizational policies and applicable requirements concerning fair market value, commercial reasonableness, Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and other relevant laws and regulations.
Provider Onboarding and Integration
  • Partner with operations, credentialing, payer enrollment, IT, People Services, and market leadership to define ownership, handoffs, timelines, and escalation pathways that ensure a coordinated provider onboarding experience.
  • Establish enterprise onboarding standards that support a coordinated transition from recruitment through full clinical integration, initial productivity, and sustain provider satisfaction.
  • Monitor onboarding performance, identify barriers to timely start dates and successful integration, and use feedback and performance data to improve provider satisfaction, engagement, and time-to-productivity.
Provider Retention and Engagement
  • Collaborate with physician leadership and operational teams to support provider retention initiatives, workforce stability strategies, and proactive engagement programs across the employment lifecycle.
  • Utilize workforce analytics, exit data, engagement results, and other indicators to identify turnover risks, monitor retention trends, and implement targeted interventions that improve physician and APP engagement, organizational alignment, professional development, and succession planning.
Enterprise Performance Management and Operational Excellence
  • Establish key performance indicators, reporting structures, service level expectations, and accountability mechanisms for recruitment, contracting, onboarding, and retention.
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, workforce optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce vacancies, shorten recruitment and contracting timelines, improve onboarding readiness, and accelerate provider ramp-up.
  • Develop enterprise dashboards that provide visibility into workforce demand, recruitment pipelines, contract status, onboarding readiness, retention, and operational barriers while ensuring consistent execution of enterprise standards with appropriate market‑specific flexibility.
Leadership and Stakeholder Partnership
  • Serve as the executive leader for provider recruitment and contracting teams across the enterprise, leading, developing, and retaining geographically dispersed teams while building accountability and succession capability.
  • Build effective partnerships with division presidents, market CEOs, CMOs, physician leaders, Medical Group Services leadership, finance, legal and compliance, compensation, People Services, and other key stakeholders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
