Job description

PowerSchool creates connected K-12 technology that helps schools operate more effectively and supports better outcomes for educators, students, families, and communities. Student Information Systems sit at the center of that ecosystem, supporting the essential data, workflows, reporting, and experiences schools rely on every day.

Â

The Vice President, Product, Student Information Systems will own the long-term strategy, evolution, and business performance of PowerSchool's SIS portfolio. This executive will shape how a mission-critical platform evolves for the next generation of K-12 education while ensuring it continues to deliver the reliability, compliance, and customer value districts depend on today.

Responsibilities:
What You Will LeadProduct and Portfolio Strategy
  • Own and communicate the long-term vision and 2-to-4-year strategy for the SIS portfolio.
  • Establish product priorities and make investment decisions based on customer needs, market dynamics, competitive intelligence, technology evolution, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
  • Own the multi-year roadmap and determine where PowerSchool will invest, modernize, integrate, partner, consolidate, migrate, or retire capabilities.
  • Define where the SIS portfolio will differentiate and establish clear strategic choices about where PowerSchool will and will not compete.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into measurable product, customer, and business outcomes.
SIS Platform Modernization
  • Set the strategic direction for evolving the SIS as a secure, reliable, authoritative system of record for student and school information.
  • Establish modernization priorities across architecture, workflows, user experience, data models, integrations, reporting, and platform capabilities.
  • Determine how AI, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies can responsibly simplify district work and improve customer outcomes.
  • Ensure modernization strengthens the underlying platform rather than creating fragmented or duplicative capabilities.
  • Balance innovation and transformation with the reliability, performance, security, privacy, and compliance requirements of mission-critical K-12 infrastructure.
Data, Interoperability, and Ecosystem Strategy
  • Own the product strategy for how SIS data connects with the broader PowerSchool platform and external education technology ecosystem.
  • Advance standards-based interoperability, including APIs, Ed-Fi, OneRoster, and other relevant K-12 data standards.
  • Establish product priorities that improve data quality, governance, accessibility, and portability across systems.
  • Ensure SIS capabilities support evolving district, state, provincial, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Define how the SIS enables analytics, automation, AI, and other data-driven capabilities across the PowerSchool ecosystem.
Customer and Market Leadership
  • Maintain a deep understanding of district operations, administrators, educators, families, technology leaders, and other SIS stakeholders.
  • Establish disciplined customer discovery and product-learning mechanisms that translate customer problems into scalable opportunities.
  • Maintain an executive-level understanding of competitors, emerging technologies, procurement dynamics, regulatory developments, and changes in district needs.
  • Represent PowerSchool's SIS strategy with customers, prospects, partners, industry organizations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Make disciplined product decisions that balance individual customer needs with scalable market and portfolio strategy.
Business and Commercial Ownership
  • Own product outcomes across adoption, engagement, retention, customer value, competitive position, revenue growth, and portfolio health.
  • Establish business cases and investment priorities in partnership with Finance and executive leadership.
  • Own product recommendations and decisions related to pricing, packaging, monetization, lifecycle management, and portfolio structure.
  • Use product, customer, operational, and financial evidence to evaluate performance and adjust strategy and investment priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve commercial performance while protecting long-term customer and platform value.
Enterprise Execution
  • Establish clear priorities and decision frameworks across Product, Engineering, Technology, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Services, Finance, and other functions.
  • Ensure product strategy translates into executable roadmaps, market-ready solutions, and measurable customer outcomes.
  • Establish expectations for positioning, packaging, pricing, sales enablement, implementation readiness, migration, adoption, and lifecycle management.
  • Serve as the executive product authority for strategic customers, major opportunities, and complex competitive situations.
  • Resolve tradeoffs among customer commitments, innovation, platform modernization, technical health, security, compliance, capacity, and commercial priorities.
Product Organization Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing organization of Product leaders and Product Managers responsible for the SIS portfolio.
  • Establish clear decision rights, accountability, objectives, and measurable outcomes across product areas.
  • Build leadership capability and succession depth within the organization.
  • Strengthen product disciplines including discovery, strategy, prioritization, experimentation, analytics, commercialization, and lifecycle management.
  • Create an operating environment where Product leaders understand both the customer problem they are solving and the business outcomes they own.
Qualifications:
