Crypto.com is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our compliance team as the Vice president of Sanctions and Financial Crime Intelligence. This critical leadership role is designed to oversee sanctions controls for the Northamerican entities and spearhead the modernization and scalability of our compliance program through advanced automation, while providing robust oversight over financial crimes risks. Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Crimes, you will drive actionable intelligence operations to protect the platform, defend our users, and safeguard the firm’s reputation

About the Role

Come join the North America Compliance team as the Vice President of Sanctions and Financial Crime Intelligence.

This role reports directly to the Head of Financial Crimes. In this role, you will drive operational effectiveness and efficacy, oversee sanctions controls and focus on identifying, analyzing, and mitigating external threats to the platform. You will serve as a frontline defender—collaborating closely with law enforcement, industry peers, and intelligence networks to protect the business and its users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automation & Operational Scaling: Champion and spearhead the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of automation, machine learning, and workflow technologies across all core compliance processes to drive operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Sanctions Controls and Reporting: Oversee the implementation, tuning, and ongoing maintenance of on-chain sanction controls. Manage all sanctions blocked-property processes, ensuring rigorous compliance with OFAC regulations and timely submission of Blocked Property Reports (BPRs).
  • Risk Assessment and Remediation: Responsible for managing and conducting the AML and Sanctions risk assessment for the Northamerican entities adhering to empirical methodologies to evaluate inherent risk, control effectiveness and residual risk. Lead and manage complex regulatory remediation efforts, ensuring audit and examination findings are tracked, addressed, and closed effectively.
  • Digital Asset Intelligence: Direct the AML and sanctions due diligence processes for all new token listings, ensuring comprehensive risk evaluations are completed prior to supporting new digital assets on the platform.
  • External Threat Intelligence & Industry Referrals: Lead OSINT/Media Monitoring and industry threat-sharing platforms to identify emerging financial crime trends.
  • Law Enforcement & Industry Engagement: Serve as the primary executive point of contact for law enforcement and 314(b) information-sharing initiatives, review/approve 314(b) requests and coordinate active participation in law enforcement sprints and operations.
  • Regulatory Reporting & Governance: Manage responses to SAR supporting documentation requests, draft executive Board Reports for Northamerican entities, and provide other ad hoc updates.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of progressive, senior-level experience in Sanctions, and Financial Crimes Compliance, ideally within top-tier crypto exchanges, digital asset fintechs, or complex global financial institutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of US and Canadian sanctions and AML regulatory regimes.
  • Hands-on experience leading AML/Sanctions risk assessments and driving significant regulatory remediation programs.
  • Expertise in digital assets, blockchain analytics, token listing due diligence frameworks, and the implementation of on-chain sanctions controls.
  • Demonstrated capability to spearhead workflow automation and integrate cutting‑edge compliance technologies (e.g., AI/ML tools, advanced case management systems) to optimize operations.
  • Established history of successfully managing and responding to inquiries from tier-1 banking partners, global regulators, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Exceptional executive presence, with the ability to communicate complex, highly technical regulatory concepts to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CGSS, CFE, or specialized blockchain compliance certifications (e.g., CCAS) are strongly preferred.
