Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a VP of Quality for a growing chemical manufacturing company in East Tennessee. This individual will lead a team of approximately six quality and laboratory professionals and oversee the organization's quality management system (QMS), global regulatory compliance, laboratory operations, audits, and quality strategy.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on rebuilding the quality organization, simplifying and combining multiple quality systems, and creating a scalable quality program to support future growth and acquisitions.

Responsibilities
  • Own and continuously improve the QMS, including ISO 9001 and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead regulatory compliance, inspection readiness, and quality audits across manufacturing operations.
  • Remain actively involved with daily QA/QC and laboratory issues as business needs require.
  • Provide technical guidance on laboratory testing, analytical methods, instrumentation, investigations, and quality decisions.
  • Lead the quality and laboratory organization while remaining comfortable operating within a small, lean team.
  • Drive CAPA, root-cause investigations, supplier quality, complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Simplify and integrate multiple quality systems into one scalable quality program.
  • Build strong quality practices across operations, supply chain, commercial, and other functions.
  • Partner directly with executive leadership on quality strategy and business growth.
  • Present quality risks, metrics, and strategy to executives, private equity stakeholders, and the board.
  • Operate equally effectively at strategic and tactical levels, from executive presentations to daily manufacturing and laboratory quality issues.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive quality experience in chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, life sciences, or similarly regulated manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Leadership experience owning and improving a QMS, including ISO 9001.
  • Direct, hands-on experience working within a QA/QC laboratory environment.
  • Working knowledge of chemistry, analytical testing, laboratory instrumentation, test methods, deviations, OOS investigations, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting quality within an active manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading quality and laboratory professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to personally troubleshoot quality problems rather than relying solely on subordinate managers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, plant leadership, executives, investors, and board-level stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialty chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience integrating multiple QMS environments following an acquisition.
  • Experience building or rebuilding a quality organization.
  • Global or multi-site quality leadership.
  • SAP S/4HANA experience.
  • Experience with GxP, FDA, EMA, EPA, ISO 13485, or international regulatory frameworks.
  • Private equity-backed, entrepreneurial, or lean organizational experience.
