Weihe Engineers is seeking a visionary Vice President of Information Technology in Carmel, IN. This executive role partners with the leadership team to craft IT strategy, align systems with growth, and drive AI initiatives across the organization.

You will oversee MSP relationships, implement enterprise solutions, and ensure robust governance and security. The position requires leading technology strategy, managing budgets, and fostering innovation in a mid-size engineering services firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; 10+ years of IT experience considered.
• 8-12+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership roles.
• Experience with MSP/vendor relationships.
• Strong capability in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise systems.
• Experience leading technology strategy beyond operations.
• Familiarity with AEC industry tools (AutoDesk AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Deltek Ajera).
• Experience implementing AI and automation solutions in business.
• Strong communication skills translating tech to business value.
• Ability to operate in a mid-size company with lean IT staff.

Responsibilities

Position: Vice President of Information Technology

Location: Carmel, IN / Northside Indianapolis, IN

Major Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a progressive IT strategy aligned with corporate growth, project delivery, and client service goals
• Serve as the internal technology leader and advisor to executive leadership on systems, risk, cybersecurity, and innovation
• Oversee and manage the MSP relationship, including performance, SLAs, budgeting, and strategic alignment
• Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of enterprise systems (e.g., project management, ERP, document management, collaboration tools, etc.)
• Identify where AI and automation can improve how we work (design, project management, operations, administration, recruiting) and lead the initiatives that automate repetitive tasks and put our date to better use
• Establish and enforce IT governance, cybersecurity standards, data management policies, and business continuity standards, and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations
• Partner with department leaders and staff to identify opportunities for process improvements through technology
• Manage IT budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, including data security and accessibility considerations
• Oversee (or delegate) technology onboarding and offboarding process in coordination with HR
• Evaluate AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Architectural Engineering Construction (AEC) specific platforms
• Integrate AI technology and current software such as Deltek Ajera and AutoDesk AutoCAD
• Establish
• Lead digital transformation initiatives, including automation of repetitive workflows and improved data utilization
• Lead / oversee company’s AI committee and establish responsible AI usage policies, training programs, and governance
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; comfortable juggling multiple priorities without dropping the ball
• Self-starter with a positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to pitch in wherever it’s needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred); will consider applicants with real world job experience of 10+ years
• 8-12+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership roles
• Experience working with or managing MSP / vendor relationships
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise systems with a practical, execution-oriented mindset
• Demonstrated experience leading technology strategy, not just operations
• Familiarity with AEC industry tools (e.g., AutoDesk AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Deltek Ajera, etc.)
• Experience implementing or scaling AI and automation solutions in a business environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value
• Comfortable operating in mid-size company environment with lean internal IT staff
• Passion for innovation and continuous improvement
• Strong collaborator who can work effectively across technical and administrative teams, from field staff to senior leadership, and enjoys training and mentoring others
• Proficient with standard productivity tools (MS Office, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro) with Bluebeam experience being a plus
