We are seeking a Vice President to lead and expand our auction division. This executive will own the strategy, execution, and growth of our auction platform, developing a top-tier liquidation engine that delivers consistent results for buyers and sellers.
This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone who understands the industrial machinery ecosystem and has a proven track record of scaling B2B sales, operations, or auction platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the short and long-term strategy for the auction business.
- Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to grow auction revenue, brand reputation, and market share.
Auction Operations
- Oversee the full lifecycle of full facility auction events: from lead qualification and consignment intake to marketing, sale day management, and final asset removal.
- Ensure world-class customer experience for both sellers and buyers, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Business Development
- Develop and scale a national network of end-user clients, banks, resellers, and asset-based lenders.
- Double our business in Mexico.
- Spearhead high-touch relationships with dealers and decision-makers across manufacturing sectors.
- Close major accounts and position MTB as the preferred platform for liquidation in North America.
- Generate 1,000,000 of profit in 18 months
People Management
- Lead a cross-functional auction team, including sales, operations, project management, and marketing specifically for full facility auctions.
- Mentor direct reports, set clear goals, and foster a high-performance culture rooted in account ability and trust.
Platform & Process Innovation
- Champion continuous improvement of our auction tech stack, CRM, and operational workflows.
- Work closely with marketing and tech to optimize auction visibility, bidder participation, and conversion rates.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of leadership experience in auctions, e-commerce, B2B industrial sales, asset liquidation, or related sectors.
- Deep understanding of machine tools, fabrication equipment, and the industrial resale market.
- Strong background in building and scaling sales or operations teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, hands-on leadership style, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Traits
- Preferredto have previous history in auctions business
- Preferred to have an Auctioneers license
- Track record of scaling auction revenues and seller participation.
- Knowledge of key auction compliance and logistics in North America.
- Familiarity with CRM systems ("HubSpot"), auction software, and digital marketing strategies.
- Ability to travel as needed, most likely 10+ days per month
- Ability to be in Chicago, Illinois office or potential satellite office in a major metro area
