  • Establish metrics and tools to support 2nd line Operational Risk oversight activities.
  • Provide oversight and challenge of 1LOD activities related to NFRA and Compliance Risk Assessments.
  • Lead 2LOD Monitoring Check reviews and risk assessments.
  • Support executive management presentations and reporting to boards.

We're seeking someone to join our team as a Non-Financial Risk Coverage Officer in the U.S. Banks Non-Financial Risk to partner with stakeholders across the firm's three lines of defense to provide effective oversight over the Bank's risks, in line with regulatory expectations.In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm's management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is a Vice President level position within the Product Coverage team involving building relationships and working collaboratively as part of a high performing global team responsible for identifying, assessing, reporting, and managing Non-Financial Risk.Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.What you'll do in the role:- Partner with the relevant U.S. Bank Business Units and Control Groups to develop a perspective on the End-to-End Product risks relevant to the U.S. Banks Consumer Lending and Deposits & Cash Management businesses.- Coordinate the Banks' responses to risk management activities across the organization, such as the firm's annual Non-Financial Risk Assessment.- Design reporting and present Assessment results to stakeholders, senior management and governance committees across lines of defense.- Create and revise training and policies and procedures as necessary.- Lead due diligence reviews for New Product Approval (NPAs) and Significant Modification Adjustment (SMA) proposals, including facilitation of the Dynamic Compliance Risk Assessment (DCRA) process to assess changes to the Compliance Risk Profile- Ensure establishment of the appropriate metrics and analytical tools to support 2nd line Operational Risk oversight activities (e.g. monitoring, assessment, escalation)- Provide oversight, review and challenge over 1LOD activities, including the Non-Financial Risk Assessment (NFRA) Program, including Compliance Risk Assessment activities related to U.S. Banks Laws, Rules, and Regulations- Perform review and challenge over 1LOD activities, in line with internal standards and regulatory expectations- Lead and execute 2LOD Monitoring Check reviews, risk assessments, and other NFR deliverables- Support creation of presentations for executive management and senior risk managers, including reporting to boards and committees- Lead Scenario Analysis activities to identify material risks which may impact the Bank's capital- Build strong relationships across divisions and control functions, including Operations, Finance, U.S. Banks, ISG, and Legal/Compliance. What you'll bring to the role:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally in a quantitative discipline, Finance, Economics or similar.- CRCM; MBA or JD from an accredited school desired.- 8+ years' experience in a Non-Financial Risk (Operational and/or Compliance Risk focused) role.- 6+ years' compliance and/or regulatory experience with knowledge of the financial services industry, U.S. Banks regulatory requirements (e.g. OCC rules), and experience analyzing business risk and best practices- Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate- Proven ability to anticipate and identify risks and develop mitigation plans- Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize; ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to produce concise and effective presentations.- Proficient in MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant AI tools (CoPilot, Claude)- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work in a dynamic team environment; ability to build and maintain a network of contactsPlease note that the location listed for this role is temporary.
