POSITION SUMMARY — The Vice President, Market Access is responsible for developing and executing Mirum's North American Market Access strategy to optimize patient access, reimbursement, and sustainable portfolio value across all commercial products and pipeline assets. As a member of the Commercial Leadership Team, this executive partners closely with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Commercial Operations, and Global colleagues to ensure market access strategies are integrated across the product lifecycle.

The Vice President provides strategic leadership across Pricing & Contracting, National and Regional Payer Accounts, Field Reimbursement, and Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR). This leader is accountable for maximizing patient access while achieving net revenue objectives through innovative payer strategies, pricing excellence, evidence generation, and cross-functional execution.

This role is responsible for building and developing a high-performing Market Access organization, influencing enterprise strategy, and serving as Mirum's senior market access expert with executive leadership, customers, and external stakeholders.

Job Functions
  • Develop and execute Mirum's North American Market Access strategy in alignment with corporate and commercial objectives across marketed products and pipeline assets.
  • Serve as the executive leader responsible for maximizing patient access while achieving net revenue, reimbursement, and profitability objectives.
  • Provide strategic counsel to the Executive Leadership Team on evolving payer dynamics, pricing strategy, reimbursement trends, healthcare policy, and competitive market developments.
  • Lead market access planning for pipeline products, lifecycle management initiatives, label expansions, and commercial launch readiness.
Pricing, Contracting & Market Access Strategy
  • Own enterprise pricing strategy, gross-to-net optimization, contracting strategy, and reimbursement economics across commercial and government channels.
  • Accountable for compliant commercial pricing, government price reporting, rebate administration, and associated financial obligations.
  • Establish annual pricing governance and contracting strategies that optimize market access while achieving corporate financial objectives.
  • Lead payer contracting strategies that balance coverage objectives, reimbursement quality, and net price performance.
Payer Strategy
  • Lead national and regional payer account strategies to secure optimal coverage, reimbursement, utilization management policies, and patient access across Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and other government programs.
  • Provide leadership to the field-based payer account and field reimbursement organizations to achieve strategic objectives related to access, reimbursement, and customer engagement.
Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR)
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Biostatistics, and Global Market Access to establish evidence generation priorities, HEOR strategy, and payer evidence plans supporting the value proposition across the Mirum portfolio.
  • Ensure timely development and submission of US and Canadian payer dossiers aligned with global value messaging and reimbursement objectives.
External Engagement & Policy
  • Develop sustainable external communication strategies supporting reimbursement, label expansions, future indications, and pipeline products.
  • Monitor evolving federal and state healthcare policy, including Medicare, Medicaid, 340B, Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and reimbursement changes, ensuring Mirum proactively adapts market access strategies.
  • Represent Mirum with key payer organizations, industry associations, and other external stakeholders to strengthen strategic partnerships and market access capabilities.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, Commercial Operations, Supply Chain, and Global teams to integrate market access strategy throughout product development and commercialization.
  • Provide enterprise subject matter expertise across pharmacy and medical benefit design, reimbursement policy, healthcare economics, and market access trends.
Organizational Leadership
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing Market Access organization through talent development, coaching, succession planning, and organizational design.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure all team activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources to achieve business objectives while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Deliver key performance objectives within established timelines and budget.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MPH, MS, or equivalent) preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 18 years of progressive leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years leading Market Access organizations, including significant responsibility for Pricing & Contracting, National and Regional Payer Accounts, Government Programs, Field Reimbursement, and HEOR.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing market access strategies for specialty and/or rare disease products across pharmacy and medical benefits.
  • Experience leading market access planning for pipeline assets through commercialization and product launch.
  • Demonstrated experience leading commercial organizations through periods of growth and organizational evolution.
  • Established executive-level relationships with national and regional payer organizations.
  • Experience working across both US and international market access environments is preferred.
  • Experience within rare disease and specialty pharmaceuticals strongly preferred.

  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex market, reimbursement, and financial information into actionable business strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, organizational change, and evolving market conditions.
  • Experience prioritizing competing business needs while making timely, data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to anticipate business challenges, develop innovative solutions, and execute effectively.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience leading highly matrixed, cross-functional organizations.
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical leadership and compliance.

The salary range for this position is $350,000 to $375,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to; skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.
