Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. seeks a strategic leader to head Financial Business Services and Financial Systems. This executive delivers standardized, technology-enabled finance operations aligning with corporate strategy and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee core finance operations, master data governance, reporting, automation, and organizational change to drive scalable, high-performing partnering with executives across Accounting, IT and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business; MBA preferred.
• CPA strongly preferred; extensive experience in finance leadership.
• 15+ years progressive finance leadership experience; 8+ years in large finance teams.
• Extensive Shared Services leadership; ERP implementation/optimization.
• Experience in utility or regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic development for Financial Business Services and Financial Systems.
• Oversee enterprise shared services ensuring GAAP compliance and governance.
• Own strategy and governance of finance technology platforms with IT.
• Lead finance transformation, process standardization and automation.
• Provide data governance, enterprise reporting, and analytics.
• Partner with CFO, Controller, CIO and business unit finance leaders.

Purpose

The Vice President, Financial Business Services & Financial Systems is responsible for leading the enterprise finance shared services organization while establishing the strategy, governance, and continuous improvement of the company's financial systems, processes, and data. Reporting to the Controller, this executive partners with Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and executive leadership to deliver standardized, efficient, technology-enabled finance operations that support strategic decision-making, regulatory compliance, and enterprise growth.
The role provides executive leadership over core finance operations, financial systems, process transformation, master data governance, reporting, automation, and organizational change to ensure Finance operates as a scalable, high-performing business partner.

Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute the long-term strategy for Financial Business Services and Financial Systems.
Align finance operations with enterprise objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Controller, Chief Financial Officer, and other executive leadership on finance operating model, technology investments, and organizational effectiveness.
Build a culture focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, customer service, and innovation.

Financial Business Services
Provide executive and performance management oversight for enterprise shared services to ensure finance operations comply with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and corporate governance standards, as well as driving optimal regulatory outcomes. The service groups include:
