Job summary

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is seeking a senior FP&A executive to lead enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, and performance management. This role partners with the CFO, senior leadership, and the Board to translate data into actionable strategy and ensure long-term sustainability.

Based in New York, NY, the position guides budgeting, capital planning, and resource alignment across a large multi-entity nonprofit network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • CPA or Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in FP&A within a complex, multi-entity organization.
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A leadership, with a proven track record of driving strategic financial planning, forecasting, and business performance.
  • Experience presenting directly to boards, audit committees, and senior executive teams.
  • Experience with treasury, capital planning, liquidity management, and balance sheet forecasting.
  • Knowledge of CDFIs, affordable housing finance, community development finance, and nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences and influence decision‑making at the executive and board levels.
  • Experience leveraging sophisticated ERP/accounting systems and enterprise planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Deputy CFO, CFO, executive leadership team, and Board on financial performance, resource allocation, organizational strategy, and risk management.
  • Prepare and present financial analyses and recommendations to the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Finance & Investment Committee, Asset Liability Committee, and executive leadership.
  • Lead enterprise forecasting, scenario planning, stress testing, and multi‑year financial modeling to assess organizational sustainability and inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Align long‑range financial forecasts with organizational strategic priorities, growth initiatives, and capital needs.
  • Lead financial evaluation of new business initiatives, investments, partnerships, and organizational structuring opportunities.
  • Lead capital planning and liquidity forecasting to support organizational growth and financial sustainability.
  • Lead the development, presentation and execution of LISC’s annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Deliver strategic financial reporting and trend analysis to executive leadership, board, and other external partners.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to deliver actionable financial insights, forecasting, and performance analysis that support decision‑making.
  • Ensure consistent financial planning, reporting, and performance management practices across the organization.
  • Provide financial oversight and strategic support for affiliate entities, including performance evaluation, forecasting, governance participation, and assessment of enterprise‑wide financial impacts.
  • Lead enterprise workforce planning in partnership with People and Culture and business leaders to align talent investments with strategic and financial objectives.
  • Lead the advancement of FP&A capabilities through business intelligence, predictive analytics, automation, and emerging technologies.
  • Partner with Information Technology to strengthen data governance, reporting accuracy, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Champion use of advanced planning and forecasting tools to improve decision‑making.
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities associated with lending, liquidity, funding strategies, and affiliate activities.
  • Partner with Treasury and Accounting to maintain financial resilience and covenant compliance.
  • Develop stress‑testing frameworks and contingency plans for adverse economic scenarios.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high‑performing FP&A team.
  • Establish departmental goals, performance expectations, and career development plans.

Position Description

The Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) serves as LISC's senior financial planning executive, providing strategic leadership for enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, performance management, capital planning, and decision support. As a key advisor to the Deputy CFO, CFO, Executive Leadership, and Board of Directors, the Vice President translates complex financial and operating information into actionable insights that support organizational strategy, resource allocation, and long‑term financial sustainability.

Reporting to the SVP, Deputy CFO, the Vice President leads the FP&A function and is responsible for developing a high‑performing team, advancing financial planning capabilities, and driving a culture of data‑informed decision making across the organization. The role works closely with leaders across Accounting, Treasury, Information Technology, People & Culture, Lending, Local and National Programs, and affiliate entities to align financial resources with strategic priorities and organizational impact.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the financial strategy of one of the nation's largest Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). The successful candidate will combine strong financial leadership with a commitment to LISC's mission, helping the organization deploy capital, manage resources, and strengthen communities nationwide.

The position is preferably based in New York, NY; however, qualified candidates located within LISC's footprint will also be considered.

Responsibilities
Executive Partnership & Governance

COMPENSATION

LISC offers a competitive salary ($210,195-$273,254) and excellent fringe benefits.
