Job description

PE-Backed Government Services / Field Services Company

East Coast

The Opportunity

We have been engaged by a private equity-backed government contractor operating in the field services sector to recruit a Vice President of Finance. The company provides a broad range of technical, project-based, and outsourced services to government and commercial customers and is continuing to grow both organically and through acquisition.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the VP of Finance will be a key member of the senior finance leadership team and a strategic partner to executive and operating leadership.

This is a broad, hands-on finance leadership role with direct responsibility for FP&A, treasury and liquidity, M&A support and integration, capital planning, and financial performance management. The VP will also work closely with the company's private equity ownership group and Board around financial performance, forecasting, covenant compliance, and value-creation initiatives.

The ideal candidate is someone who combines strong strategic finance capabilities with an operational mindset and is comfortable working across a multi-entity, project-oriented services organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's annual operating plan, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, including revenue, EBITDA, cash flow, and capital expenditure forecasting.

  • Develop reporting and analysis around key financial and operational metrics, identifying performance trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for EBITDA improvement.

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to business unit presidents and operating leaders, helping translate financial results into actionable operating decisions.

  • Develop scenario analyses and financial models to evaluate business performance, investments, growth initiatives, and potential risks.

  • Partner with the CFO and CEO in preparing Board and private equity investor reporting, including quarterly financial packages, forecasts, performance updates, and value-creation initiatives.

  • Play an active role throughout the M&A lifecycle, including financial due diligence, quality-of-earnings support, transaction analysis, and post-close integration.

  • Lead the financial integration of acquired businesses, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial process alignment.

  • Own treasury and liquidity management, including cash forecasting, working capital, banking relationships, revolving credit facilities, debt requirements, and covenant reporting.

  • Oversee the capital planning and approval process, including ROI analysis, budget tracking, and post-investment performance.

  • Partner with Accounting and external advisors on tax planning, audit requirements, regulatory compliance, and financial controls.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance organization while creating greater accountability, analytical rigor, and partnership between Finance and Operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; MBA or CPA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally including experience in a private equity-backed or highly leveraged environment.

  • Strong background in FP&A and operational finance, with experience partnering directly with business unit or operational leadership.

  • Experience with treasury, cash flow forecasting, debt/covenant reporting, and working capital management.

  • Meaningful exposure to M&A, financial due diligence, and post-acquisition integration.

  • Experience within a government contracting, field services, project-based services, industrial services, or similarly complex multi-entity environment is highly desirable.

  • Ability to operate effectively with senior executives, Board members, lenders, and private equity investors.

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations.

  • Hands-on leadership style and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.

Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to step into a high-visibility finance leadership position with significant exposure to the CFO, CEO, Board, and private equity ownership group. The VP of Finance will have meaningful influence over how the company plans, measures performance, allocates capital, integrates acquisitions, and drives value creation as the organization continues to grow.
