Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Vice President for Data Management Platforms to lead enterprise metadata, catalog, governance, and usage platform capabilities. You will own strategy, roadmap, adoption, and measurable outcomes across Mastercard’s data knowledge ecosystem in a global enterprise setting.

You will partner with Technology to deliver scalable platform capabilities and serve data governance teams and data user communities as internal customers. This role demands strong leadership and vision.

  • Partner with Technology to translate strategy into scalable implementation plans and operational models.
  • Lead direction for the data catalog and governance platform, including connectivity, publication, lineage, and marketplace integrations.
  • Scale adoption through onboarding, training, communications, and stakeholder engagement across data stewards, product owners, eng teams, and data scientists.
  • Translate governance standards and data product requirements into practical platform capabilities for internal customers.
  • Advance enterprise metadata context by exposing definitions, ownership, lineage, usage, and governance signals.
  • Build and lead a team responsible for platform product management and continuous improvement.

Overview

The Data Governance and Enablement team is looking for a Vice President, Data Management Platforms to lead business product management for Mastercard’s enterprise metadata, catalog, governance, lineage, marketplace, and usage/observability platform capabilities. This role is accountable for the product strategy, roadmap, adoption priorities, and measurable business outcomes for platforms such as Atlan and related metadata ecosystem capabilities.

The ideal candidate is a strong enterprise product leader who can partner with Technology to turn strategy into scalable platform capabilities, while serving Data Governance teams and data user communities as key internal customers. This role will help make trusted metadata available through an enterprise context layer so users, platforms, data products, analytics, and AI use cases can better discover, understand, govern, and reuse Mastercard data.

In This Enterprise Product Leadership Position, You Will:
  • Own the business product strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes for Mastercard’s data management platform capabilities, including metadata, catalog, lineage, marketplace, governance, and usage/observability capabilities.
  • Partner with Technology to translate platform strategy into scalable implementation plans, integrations, release priorities, controls, and operational support models.
  • Lead the product direction for the data catalog and governance platform, and related metadata ecosystem capabilities, including connectivity expansion, metadata publication, lineage, classification, data product and marketplace integration, and transition from legacy cataloging capabilities where appropriate.
  • Partner with the Platform Onboarding team to scale adoption, onboarding, training, communications, user readiness, and operational engagement across data stewards, data product owners, engineering teams, analysts, data scientists, and AI/platform teams.
  • Serve Data Governance teams and data users communities as key internal customers, translating governance standards, stewardship needs, data product requirements, marketplace needs, and certification expectations into practical platform capabilities.
  • Advance Mastercard’s enterprise metadata context layer by making trusted definitions, ownership, lineage, usage, certification, and governance signals available to users, platforms, analytics, and AI use cases.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team responsible for platform product management, stakeholder engagement, prioritization, adoption measurement, and continuous improvement across Mastercard’s data knowledge ecosystem.

The ideal candidate for this position should:

  • Extensive experience with data catalog and data governance platforms
  • Understand metadata, data cataloging, lineage, governance workflows, data products, marketplace concepts, usage/observability signals, or similar enterprise data management capabilities.
  • Have advanced business product management expertise for enterprise platforms, including strategy, roadmap ownership, stakeholder alignment, prioritization, adoption, implementation partnership, and lifecycle management.
  • Be able to work effectively with Technology teams to turn business, governance, and platform needs into implementable capabilities and sustainable operating models.
  • Operate effectively across Data Governance, Technology, Privacy, Security, Product, and regional stakeholders, balancing usability, control, scalability, and auditability.
  • Communicate clearly with senior leaders and cross-functional partners, including the ability to explain metadata, governance, platform, and context-layer concepts in business terms.
  • Develop talent, set clear objectives, and create an environment where teams can deliver consistently across complex enterprise platform and governance programs.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $204,000 - $326,000 USD

Arlington, Virginia: $235,000 - $375,000 USD

Purchase, New York: $235,000 - $375,000 USD
