Job summary

The Cyber Intelligence Leader at Synchrony will oversee CTI, detection engineering, and cyber hunt programs to translate threat signals into actionable intelligence and measurable improvements.

You will partner with JSOC, Incident Response, and vulnerability teams to reduce dwell time, drive multi-year strategies, and advance detection capabilities across endpoints, network, cloud, and identity. Financial sector expertise is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 8-12+ years in cybersecurity with threat intel, hunting, detection, or IR.
• 3+ years leading teams or enterprise programs.
• Experience building detections in SIEM/EDR and partnering with SOC/IR.
• Strong knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and applying to detection.
• Telemetry across endpoint, network, cloud, and edge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to brief executives.

Responsibilities

• Define intelligence requirements and collection plans for financial threats.
• Produce strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence with tracking.
• Translate intelligence into detections, hunts, and mitigations.
• Lead intelligence lifecycle from collection to dissemination.
• Lead hunts mapped to MITRE ATT&CK with telemetry validation.
• Coordinate hunts across endpoint, network, cloud, identity, edge/WAF.
• Escalate suspicious activity to Incident Response and support containment.
• Convert hunt findings into durable detection improvements.
• Lead detection engineering for building and maintaining analytics.
• Develop detection standards and a structured tuning process.
• Ensure detections are threat-informed and aligned to JSOC.
• Drive validation through purple-team/attack simulations.
• Partner with SOC to improve alert fidelity and escalation guidance.
• Maintain a detection backlog and release cadence with auditability.
• Perform other duties or special projects.
