ShiftKey in Irving, TX is seeking a Vice President, Controller to lead the accounting organization end-to-end. You will manage a team of managers and a director, overseeing general ledger, AR, disbursements, tax, and treasury, while driving faster, cleaner close and audit readiness.

You will strengthen internal controls, automate processes, and partner with cross-functional areas to resolve payment reliability issues, with a strong emphasis on leveraging AI within accounting workflows.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with senior leadership.
• Deep US GAAP knowledge and ownership of financial reporting.

The role

We\'re looking for a VP, Controller to lead our accounting organization - the person who owns the numbers, end to end. There\'s an established team and established processes already in place, so this isn\'t a build-it-from-scratch job. What we need is someone who can run that engine well, tighten it up where it\'s loose, and push it toward the next level of speed and scale. You\'ll own everything from the monthly close to internal controls to audit, leading through a team of managers and a director rather than doing it all yourself - and you\'re joining at a moment where clean, audit-ready books matter more than usual, so someone who\'s comfortable under that kind of scrutiny will thrive here.

Where you\'ll work

This is a hybrid position based at our HQ in Irving, Texas. You\'ll be expected to work from the office 3-4 days per week.

What you\'ll be doing

• Lead the controllership organization - General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, vendor/provider disbursements, Tax, and Treasury - through an established team of a director and managers, working across all three functions rather than just one.


• Own the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting and the monthly close process, with a clear mandate to make it materially faster and cleaner.


• Help prepare clean, audit-ready financials and support an upcoming external audit, with real urgency given the timing - you\'ll need to ramp quickly to add value from early on.


• Partner with the AR team to bring days sales outstanding under control, and work with the product team to understand and resolve payment reliability issues on the provider side of our marketplace.


• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and overall financial discipline across the organization.


• Drive process improvement and automation - including how we use our accounting systems and AI tools - to build more scalable operations.


• Partner closely with senior finance and revenue leadership to flag risks, solve problems, and support key business decisions, and develop the leaders on your team.

What you\'ll need

• CPA required.


• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful senior leadership experience managing through directors/managers - not just individual contributors.


• Deep technical accounting and US GAAP knowledge, paired with hands-on operational experience owning financial reporting, close, controls, and audit for a full accounting function.


• Genuine openness to using AI in accounting workflows.


• A proven track record improving processes, controls, and systems at scale, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.


• Strong ERP experience.


• Strong executive presence and the ability to partner effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
