Job summary

Selene Finance LP seeks a senior leader in data analytics to guide enterprise BI strategy and data engineering. You will champion data-driven decisions, oversee automated pipelines, and mentor a team across reporting, modeling, and analytics for multiple mortgage-related lines of business.

The role requires 10+ years in data leadership, strong BI/tooling knowledge, and excellent communication skills to inform executives and clients. Travel is limited.

Qualifications

• 10+ years directing teams responsible for data analysis and BI systems.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling and visualization concepts.
• Experience mentoring others in Looker, Power BI, SQL, and Python.
• Deep mortgage industry data understanding is a plus.

How you will contribute:

• Define and utilize statistical methods to help solve business-specific problems
• Research and properly evaluate sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability
• Apply sampling techniques to effectively determine and define ideal categories to be questioned
• Direct teams to compare and analyze statistical information to identify patterns, relationships and problems and utilize trends to solve specific problems
• Direct the preparation of detailed reports for management and other departments by reviewing analysis, interpreting data, conducting complex analysis as needed, and delivering accurate data
• Create executive summaries and communications for senior leadership and/or clients
• Build, coach, guide, and lead the team(s) in all aspects of data collection, analysis, interpretation, management, organization, and reporting
• Perform daily team management
• Oversees business intelligence developers/managers and implements strategy that impacts business units throughout the organization
• Design, create, implement, and/or improve numerous reports for operational need using the Microsoft BI stack
• Refer to previous instances and findings to determine the ideal method for gathering data
• Oversee development, implementation, and compliance of related policy and operating procedures
• Create plans that have clear measurable success criteria, milestones, deliverables, team structure
• Solve complex problems and proactively identify and proactively mitigate risks
• Understands the organization’s processes and has knowledge over the industry’s best practices.
• Oversees automated data pipeline systems so they are well documented, maintained, and positioned to drive growth.
• Work across the enterprise with all functions (sales, operations, IT, HR, legal, Risk, Finance)
• Deliver regular business communications and status updates, including executive summaries to all levels within the organization, including executive leadership using the technical tools available
• Remain organized and track multiple deadlines/tasks
• Provide leadership and support training on all processes and procedures, ensuring that every associate is properly trained for their position and granting permissions for production level deployments.
• Provides thought and leadership and acts as subject matter expert in data engineering and Business Intelligence
• Develop and maintain business intelligence applications including operational reports, dashboards, scorecards, and ad hoc reporting requests.
• Work in a fast-paced and highly-collaborative environment
• Complete all required training in a timely manner
• Maintain knowledge of and adherence to Selene’s internal compliance policies and procedures
• Perform other ad hoc tasks and projects

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• An MBA or master’s degree in data Analytics, Data Science, or related field preferred
• 10 or more years’ experience with progressively greater responsibilities directing teams responsible for data analysis, creating/designing business intelligence systems, collecting, integrating, and visualizing data for effective consumption by the target audience, managing and organizing large and diverse sets of information
• Strong understanding of Business Intelligence tools and terminology
• In depth knowledge and proven track record successfully using and mentoring others using Google Looker, MS Power BI, Relational Database Design, T‑SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, Python
• Deep knowledge and understanding of the mortgage industry and the importance of the varied data collected, purchased, and/or used by business (e.g., mortgage servicing, title, diligence, insurance)
• Intimately familiar with data modeling techniques
• Open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
• A professional who is also entrepreneurial, and has a client-minded focus
• Must be able to perform in a high-pressure environment, and be able to meet tight deadlines
• Has superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to draft engaging and impactful messages and presentations for inspiring employees and clients
• Solid organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize
• Ability to create and manage department budgets, reporting variances and providing mitigation plans for negative variances
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels
• High degree of integrity
• Very limited travel expected
