Responsibilities

  • Oversee strategic, financial, and operational performance of a national multifamily portfolio (~$4B).
  • Partner with investment on acquisitions, dispositions, underwriting, and business plans.
  • Collaborate with operations and development to execute repositioning strategies.
  • Lead annual budgeting, planning, and reforecasts for assets.
  • Monitor results, market dynamics, and fund-level performance.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies, rent optimization, and cap improvements.
  • Manage refinancing, recapitalization, and dispositions with capital teams.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports, valuations, and performance analyses.
  • Participate in investment committee and portfolio review meetings.
  • Mentor junior asset management team members.

Our client is a national private equity real estate platform with an integrated asset management and development function, specializing in multifamily investments across the Sunbelt, Florida, Midwest, and Northeast markets. The firm owns, operates, and develops a diversified portfolio of institutional-quality multifamily properties and continues to expand through both acquisitions and repositioning initiatives.

The firm is seeking a Vice President of Asset Management to join its Miami-based team and oversee a $4 billion portfolio of multifamily assets. This individual will be responsible for driving portfolio performance, leading value creation initiatives, and collaborating closely with the investment, development, and operations teams throughout the lifecycle of each investment.

This position offers a defined pathway to Senior Vice President / Managing Director, with the opportunity to lead the firm’s national Asset Management division in future years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the strategic, financial, and operational performance of a national portfolio of multifamily assets totaling approximately $4 billion in value, spanning the Sunbelt, Florida, Midwest, and Northeast.
  • Partner with the investment team on acquisitions and dispositions, providing input on underwriting, due diligence, and business plan development.
  • Collaborate with the operations and development teams to execute repositioning and redevelopment strategies that enhance property performance and asset value.
  • Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and reforecasting for assigned assets.
  • Monitor property-level results, market dynamics, and fund-level performance to ensure alignment with investment objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, rent optimization, and capital improvements across the portfolio.
  • Manage refinancing, recapitalization, and disposition processes in coordination with the capital markets and investment teams.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports, valuations, and performance analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in investment committee and portfolio review meetings, contributing strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the asset management team, fostering professional development and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
  • 6-12 years of real estate experience with a focus on asset management within a private equity, institutional investment, or owner-operator platform.
  • Proven experience managing multifamily portfolios, including repositioning, redevelopment, and operational enhancement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of property operations, leasing, and capital planning.
  • Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills (Excel and Argus proficiency required).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on approach with institutional discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
