We support Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

Background on the Position

The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Risk Analytics area. Risk Analytics develops market risk analytics, credit risk analytics and scenario analytics models providing quantitative analysis on the Firm's risk exposures. By developing mathematical and statistical models, Risk Analytics calculates the risks associated with specified sets of financial positions and day-to-day operations.

  • Lead development of Python-based AI applications, including NLP pipelines, LLM tools, and other machine learning models, used in Risk Management workflows
  • Apply software engineering techniques to build efficient, reliable, and maintainable solutions
  • Contribute to model and system design decisions, ensuring the solutions are technically sound and appropriate for Risk Management use cases
  • Write clean, well-structured, and well-tested Python code
  • Follow standard development practices such as GitHub-based version control, code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration
  • Deploy solutions to production environments, not just development or prototype settings
  • Own and manage relationships with Risk Management stakeholders to understand requirements and design AI solutions that meet their needs
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML models in financial services, risk-management environments, or quantitative analytics teams
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Strong Python programming skills, including familiarity with Git-based versioning and collaborative coding workflows
  • Experience developing and deploying AI/ML or analytical solutions in production environments
  • Understanding of risk models, financial products, or regulatory analytics (market/credit/stress testing)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable skills
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior developers
  • Familiarity with financial models or risk analytics frameworks
You Will Have The Chance To
  • Work on AI applications that directly support the Firm's Risk Management processes
  • Collaborate with global teams across Risk Analytics, Technology, and Strats
  • Gain exposure to quantitative risk models, broader Risk Management practices, and the operations of a global investment bank.
