Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Potable Water and Wastewater Engineering group.
• Identify growth opportunities and expand into new markets and geographies.
• Provide executive oversight of major water/wastewater projects including budget and schedule.
• Support project teams with technical guidance and risk management.
• Lead business development, build client relationships, win new work.
• Maintain relationships with municipalities, utilities, and regulators in New England.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing team of engineers and PMs.

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and visionary Vice President for BETA's Water Group to lead and expand our potable water and wastewater discipline. This senior-level role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, business development, client relations, team leadership, and operational performance for the potable water and wastewater group. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a strong network within the municipal and private utility sectors across New England. As the Vice President of the Water Group, your day-to-day focus shifts from routine engineering to high-level strategic direction, regional business development, and team empowerment.

Responsibilities:

• Help develop and execute the strategic vision for the Potable Water and Wastewater Engineering group in alignment with company strategic plan
• Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including expansion into new markets, services, and geographies
• Provide executive-level oversight of major water and wastewater projects, ensuring quality, budget, schedule, and regulatory compliance
• Support project teams with technical guidance, risk management, and high-level client interactions
• Lead business development initiatives, including identifying opportunities, building client relationships, and winning new work
• Maintain and expand relationships with municipalities, utilities, regulatory agencies, and private-sector clients throughout New England
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, project managers, and support staff
• Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Manage departmental staffing plans, resource allocation, and performance metrics
• Collaborate with other practice leaders to optimize firm-wide operations and cross-disciplinary integration

Preferred location is BETA's Norwood office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

Required Experience/Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• 20+ years of related engineering experience in potable water and wastewater projects
• Strong computer skills including a solid foundation in MS Office applications
• Knowledge and experience with the implementation of planning, design, bidding and construction oversight of Water/Wastewater projects
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills and project management experience
• Demonstrated strong background in environmental engineering, hydrologic, and hydraulic modeling
• Excellent communication & Written Skills
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
• Skilled in writing and ability to prepare formal reports
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience/Skills:

• Experience working with a broad range of clients including but not limited to municipalities
• Master's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field
