Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, invites applications for Surgeon-Scientist as Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.

The role combines clinical leadership with an independent research program, mentoring faculty and trainees, and expanding funded research. The successful candidate will guide strategic research initiatives, foster multidisciplinary collaborations across Penn State Health, College of Medicine, cancer

Qualifications

• MD, MD/PhD, DO, or equivalent degree.
• Completion of an accredited Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery training program.
• Board certification in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.
• Academic accomplishments appropriate for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
• An established independent research program.
• A strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship and extramural research funding.
• Demonstrated success in scientific collaboration and research program development.
• A commitment to mentorship and development of faculty and trainees.
• The leadership skills and vision necessary to grow the Department's research enterprise.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and grow an independent research program and clinical practice while providing strategic leadership for the Department's research mission.
• Mentor faculty and trainees, fostering multidisciplinary collaborations, developing new research initiatives, and expanding the Department's portfolio of externally funded research and clinical investigation.
• Shape the Department's research strategy and mentorship programs, develop interdisciplinary collaborations, and increase the quality, impact, and extramural support of departmental research.
• Develop collaborations across Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Health, Penn State Cancer Institute, neuroscience programs, biomedical sciences, engineering, and other Penn State institutes.
