Job summary

ABB is seeking a VFD Support Specialist to provide expert technical support for low voltage drives via phone and email, helping customers with programming, configuration, and system integration. You’ll collaborate across engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to resolve issues and document solutions in Salesforce.

The role requires a technical background with VFD knowledge, strong English communication, and the ability to work in a hybrid environment in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 4 years of relevant Electrical/Technical experience; or an associate’s with 6 years; or a HS diploma with 8 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of how Variable Frequency Drives work is required.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers and communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
  • Must be computer-literate and authorized to work in the US for ABB.
  • Knowledge of motors and control system wiring/communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support via phone and email for VFD applications and related issues.
  • Assist customers and field techs with drive programming, parameter configuration, and integration with control systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Partner with the warranty team to initiate replacements and labor authorizations as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of cases, solutions, and best practices using Salesforce.

The area of technical support includes but is not limited to Variable Frequency Drives, 3 Phase Power, System Control Wiring, and Connectivity.The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid in New Berlin, WI / Remote in the United States. #LI-RemoteYour role and responsibilities:Provide technical support via phone & email for common problems related to the application of Low Voltage Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). This includes but isn't limited to assisting customers and field techs with commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty evaluations.Assist customers with drive programming, parameter configuration, communication, and integration with control systemsCollaborate with engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to resolve complex technical issuesCollaborate with the warranty team to initiate the fulfillment of warranty replacements and labor authorization for warranty repairsMaintain detailed documentation of support cases, solutions, and best practices using Salesforce Case Management among other toolsStay current with VFD technologies, software updates, and industry trendsOur Team DynamicsOur teams support each other, collaborate, and never stop learning. Must be able to apply these principles in the troubleshooting of drives.Ability to respond to inquiries from customers and communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
