Job summary

The YWCA of Greater Harrisburg is seeking an energetic and compassionate Veteran Resource Development Specialist to help veterans overcome barriers, find meaningful employment, and build long-term career success. In this part-time role, you'll work directly with veterans to explore career goals, develop job opportunities, connect with employers, and provide ongoing support after employment.

You'll also build relationships with local businesses and veteran-serving organizations to create pathways

Qualifications

• Preferred degree in Human Services fields including Mental Health, Addictions, Social Work, or Business fields focusing on HR/Management.
• At least two years’ experience in interviewing, assessing, and hiring individuals, plus experience with drug/alcohol or mental health services.
• Veteran status preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
• FBI, Child Abuse, and State Police clearances.

Responsibilities

• Connect with veterans in the community to build relationships and connect them with employment services.
• Help veterans identify career goals, skills, interests, and employment opportunities.
• Develop relationships with local employers and industry partners to create job opportunities and hiring pipelines.
• Connect veterans with apprenticeships, training programs, education, and in-demand career pathways.
• Provide ongoing support to help veterans overcome workplace barriers and maintain employment.
• Connect veterans with resources related to housing, transportation, childcare, healthcare, benefits, and other supportive services.
• Partner with veteran-serving organizations, CareerLink, employers, workforce agencies, and community service providers to build strong support systems.
• Assist veterans with goal setting, budgeting, financial stability, and long-term career planning.
• Maintain accurate client records and complete required documentation and reports.
• Attend community events, veteran outreach events, and team meetings as needed.

Education

What You’ll Do

Position Requirements

• Preferred degree in Human Services fields of study including but not limited to, Mental Health or Addictions, Social Work, Psychology, or in a Business field of study, including to but not limited to, Human Resource Management, Business, or Management.
• At least two years’ experience in interviewing, assessing, and hiring individuals. As well as experience with drug and alcohol or mental health services.
