Job summary

University of Pennsylvania’s Ryan Veterinary Hospital is hiring a Ward Veterinary Assistant to support the ward with stocking, lab work, patient restraint and patient transport. You will assist with admits and discharges, and work closely with nurses to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced veterinary environment. The position runs 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, at the Philadelphia campus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; 0-2 years in veterinary setting preferred.
• Experience with patient restraint, ability to multitask and follow directions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Stocking supplies and cleaning in the ward.
• Cage setup and breakdown; cleaning and organizing equipment.
• Walk patients in appropriate areas, double-leashed.
• Labeling and transport of deceased patients to the appropriate cooler.
• Assist nurses with patient restraint and treatable tasks.
• Aid with discharge of outpatients when trained.
