Groundworks New Mexico is seeking a Veterinary Technician/Wildlife Rehabilitator in Albuquerque, NM. The role involves conducting in-house rehabilitation, working closely with veterinarians, and participating in wildlife rescues.
The ideal candidate has 3 years of relevant experience and excellent interpersonal skills. The position may require some night and weekend work and offers a blend of onsite and remote responsibilities.
Conduct in‑house rehabilitation and work with veterinarians and home‑based rehabilitators. Participate in rescues, transportation and re‑nesting efforts. Assist with hotline calls. Be flexible enough to handle the seasonality of wildlife rehabilitation. Some night and/or weekend work required. Maintain WRMD medical database. Manage state/federal permit reporting.
Interact well with volunteers and other nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Work hand‑in‑hand with our social media team to provide images and stories. Some operations are onsite with some remote work on a case‑by‑case basis. Company vehicles may be available.
Three years veterinary technician/wildlife rehabilitation under veterinary supervision. One year managing volunteers in an animal treatment setting. Intermediate/advanced wildlife rehabilitation skills including handling, nutrition, physical exam, injections, gavage feeding, and subcutaneous fluid administration. Excellent interpersonal skills and must work well in a team setting. Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
