Job summary

CityVet in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Urgent Care team. The VT will support the Veterinarian, assist in urgent medical and surgical cases, and help maintain efficient workflow in a fast-paced clinic.

The role involves lab work, anesthesia support, client communication, and potential for a hybrid schedule. This position offers full‑time benefits for 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Understanding of and ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
• Knowledgeable in veterinary medical terminology and medication.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Veterinarian in urgent medical and surgical cases.
• Prepare lab samples.
• Interpret cytology samples.
• Interpret urinalysis.
• Run in‑house lab work.
• Prepare samples for send‑out analysis to Antech.
• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthetic patients.
• Prepare cost estimates.
• Fill prescriptions.
• Client education.
• Potential for Urgent Care/GP Hybrid schedule.

The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of clients and patients. The VT relieves the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and the client.
