Job summary

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is seeking a Surgical Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced, growth-oriented team. You will work closely with board-certified surgeons, residents, and interns in a state-of-the-art 42,000-square-foot facility, providing anesthesia, surgical support, and compassionate client communication.

Ideal candidates have LVT/CVT/RVT credentials and strong anesthesia and surgical experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician credentials required or eligible.
• Strong anesthesia and surgical experience required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and neurosurgical procedures
• Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Prepare patients and maintain sterile technique in the OR
• Provide post-operative care, treatments, and documentation
• Collaborate with surgeons, residents, interns, and the surgical team
• Communicate compassionately with clients and advocate for patients
• Support department flow, scheduling, equipment, and surgical supplies

What You ll Do

• Support soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and neurosurgical procedures

What We re Looking For

• LVT/CVT/RVT; VTS preferred
• Strong anesthesia and surgical experience
• Experienced Veterinary Assistants may be considered
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Team-oriented approach and strong leadership skills
• Passion for learning and advancing surgical care

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time: Wednesday Saturday, 9:00 AM 7:30 PM or similar, if changed due to hospital needs
• Schedule will be discussed during interview
• Some holidays required
• $25 $38/hour, based on experience and licensure
• Higher range available for VTS
• Up to $5,000 sign-on bonus based on experience and credentials
