Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health in Monroeville, PA is seeking a Veterinary Technician, Surgery for a full-time, first-shift role with four ten-hour shifts weekly. You will assist with surgical admissions, prep radiographs, monitor anesthesia, and support the surgical team.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary technician license preferred but not required.
  • Foundational knowledge in restraint, imaging, laboratory skills, and venipuncture.
  • Experience in anesthesia or surgical support is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Fluent English (speaking and reading) required; multilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with surgical admissions, patient assessments, and client communication for smooth surgeries.
  • Prepare patients, obtain radiographs, and assist with procedures during consultations and rechecks.
  • Monitor anesthesia, vital signs, and recovery to ensure patient safety.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV access, and basic nursing care as needed.
  • Serve as sterile scrub technician and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
  • Maintain medical records, treatment charges, and discharge documentation.
  • Educate clients on post-operative care and home recovery instructions.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care and advocate for patients during surgical journeys.
  • Assist with care of hospitalized and emergency transfer patients as needed.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, veterinarians, and technicians for exceptional specialty care.

Location: Monroeville, PA

Schedule: Full Time | 1st shift | 4 Ten Hour Shifts Per Week, typical start time is between 7am & 9am

Compensation: $19-26 /hr Depending On Experience | $1500 Hiring Bonus!

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will
  • Assist with surgical admissions, patient assessments, and client communication to ensure a seamless surgical experience.
  • Support surgical consultations and recheck appointments by preparing patients, obtaining radiographs, and assisting with procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia, patient vitals, and recovery to ensure the safety and comfort of every patient.
  • Perform technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and advanced nursing care.
  • Serve as a sterile assistant and scrub technician while maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, treatment charges, and discharge documentation.
  • Educate clients on post-operative care and discharge instructions to support successful recoveries at home.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care and advocate for patients throughout their surgical journey.
  • Assist with the care of hospitalized and emergency transfer patients as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, veterinarians, and fellow technicians to deliver exceptional specialty patient care.
What You Bring
  • Veterinary Technician License (LVT, CVT, or RVT) preferred, but not required
  • Foundational veterinary knowledge, including patient restraint, triage, imaging, laboratory skills, and venipuncture.
  • Previous experience in anesthesia or surgical support is a plus—but not essential.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
