Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Johns Creek, GA is hiring an exceptional Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team and deliver high-quality care for pets.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will provide nursing care to stable patients, place IV catheters, monitor vital signs, and assist during fluid therapy, with a rotating on-call schedule after training. A minimum of two years' experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to work on a rotating on call schedule after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams; count heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiration and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Disconnect/connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein .
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
