Job summary

Veterinary Specialty Center in Melbourne, Florida is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Technician to join our specialty surgical team. You will work directly with a Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon and participate in advanced surgical cases while expanding your skills in anesthesia, surgery, diagnostics, hospitalization, and patient recovery.

General practice technicians are encouraged to apply; solid veterinary fundamentals are welcomed even without extensive specialty experience.

What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Technician at Veterinary Specialty Center, you will play an important role throughout the surgical patient’s experience, from preparation and anesthesia through recovery and discharge.

Responsibilities may include:

• IV catheter placement and venipuncture
• Preparing patients for surgical procedures
• Anesthesia preparation and monitoring
• Monitoring patients during surgical procedures
• Post-anesthesia monitoring and recovery
• Medication administration
• Hospitalized patient nursing and monitoring
• Patient restraint and safe handling
• Assisting with advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures
• Maintaining accurate medical records
• Preparing and maintaining the surgical and treatment areas
• Communicating closely with veterinarians and the patient-care team
