Job summary

Animal Hospital of Las Cruces in Las Cruces, NM is seeking a Veterinary Technician- Relief to provide end-to-end care for our patients. You will assist veterinarians with outpatient treatments, laboratory testing, anesthesia, surgery, and dental procedures in a fast-paced general practice.

Qualifications

• Licensure preferred, not required.
• 1+ years of clinical experience.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Proficient with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and injection administration.
• Digital radiographs setup
• Experience with in-house labs and cytology tests.
• Proficient with anesthesia, surgery, and dental prophylaxis.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed technicians.
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns & Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems support.
• Obtain relevant health history from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and maintain sterile treatment areas and labs.
• Mentor and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Veterinary technician licensure preferred, not required
• 1 or more years of clinical experience
• Outstanding communication skills
• Proficient with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and injection administration skills
• Full knowledge to set up and position patients for digital radiographs
• Experience with in-house labs and cytology tests
• Proficient with anesthesia, surgery, and dental prophylaxis

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
