Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a Veterinary Technician at Northern Rhode Island Animal Hospital in Forestdale, RI. This full-time role involves assisting veterinarians, supporting surgeries, monitoring patients, and maintaining medical records in a collaborative hospital environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of clinical experience and an AVMA‑accredited veterinary technology program. Licensure is preferred but not required; physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds is needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of clinical experience.
• Veterinary technician licensure preferred, not required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures and maintain positive patient flow.
• Monitor and assess patient status and collect samples for testing.
• Place catheters and use safe restraining techniques following protocols.
• Maintain medical records and health histories with accurate documentation.
• Mentor and support fellow team members.
